Park hours: 6:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. (Closed weekdays open Weekends only)
Dock closes: 4:30 P.M.
Last Plant: small (undisclosed amount) of DFW trout in mid- Nov.
Next Plant: 6,000 lbs of Rainbow Trout Saturday December 10th.
Water temperature: At surface 63.14 f., 7.06 D.O. @ 10’ 63.32 f., 6.71 D.O.
Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motor boats to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
Permits and Boat Rentals are now being issued at the Ranger Station. At present we are limited to cash transactions only. We apologize for any inconvenience during this transitional period. The park will remain closed weekdays until Dec. 10th.
The trout opener is just two weeks away. There are 6,000 lbs. of Nebraska Tail-Walkers scheduled for Saturday Dec. 10th. There have been two small trout plants made already by the Department of Fish and Wildlife making this the earliest we have seen trout in years.
Catfish are biting throughout the lake. Joey Mayerchik of Valley Center while fishing for bass off Senior Shoreline with a swimbait instead landed a 35.30# Blue Catfish. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver.
Largemouth bass can be found around structure. With the re-introduction of trout to the menu this would be an excellent time to use swim-baits in hopes of landing a big bucket-mouth.
