My question is once you have your shad/bait, how are you setting it up? Sorry for the newb question, just curious.
You can tie up a Tady and pin the shad on the 3/0 treble. You'll get bit.

That's how I did it earlier this year when fishing shad. We netted shad in the canyon up against the wall when they were spawning. Fished 6lb with a little split shot above and did real well on the LMB and Smallies, striper didn't touch em.
