Hi Robert I have only fished this Lake once or twice but it is very accessible.......I have seen quite a few folks catching catfish out there. Ever get a cat from Balboa?
No catfish for me were the catfish big? cus catfish are awesome ! especially scince balboa seems to just have trash fish (but still fun)
the ones i saw were between 3-5lbs. The fishermen who only spoke espanol kept them...yukkk

I grew up in the 818 and still fish Balboa Lake when I visit my parents....am I still welcome? Fished the lake Sat and Sunday....lotsa dink tilaps and shiners(look like mini carp), my daughter got one of the larger model tilaps just as we were leaving Sat night. I'll prolly post a report in the City Park Lake section if you care to check it out. Have not seen any cats caught outta that place in years just fyi. TD
