wow lakersmn thats some haul......I like the new gold and especially the red Thomas Bouyants. I also find the pink power worms to be very effective on the trout, especially the ones in the Sierras.

pink power worms....what kind of trout are you fishing for? :) I really don't know why these fish are fooled by pink, green, rainbow, etc. fishing bait?! You would think just a plain old nightcrawler would work the best hands down.? I've always had the best luck with worms, but then I've olny been able to land 1 to 3lb trout...I think trolling usually produces larger fish.

Who here has a boat? We should get together soon and fish/catch! I have a 18ft Four Winns & 21ft Chaparral I use for freshwater, but haven't been out in freshwater much considering the great saltwater bite we've been having! Planning on searching for patties Sunday hoping to land some of these dorado & yellows! If there's a really good freshwater bite I'd be willing to do that instead, let me know.

Anyone interested in chartering the Phantom next week 8/24 on an overnight trip? It's $200 to $235 and hold 8 anglers. I just talked to them and they had limits of White Seabass(16) and a bunch of Calicos! They went on a 1.5 a day couple days ago and killed the Yellowfin, Albies, Dorado & Yellows so that might be available as well. I would really like to get on an overnight down south and get some Dorado, but boats are filling up FAST. PLEASE let us know if you know of any open charters or upcoming trips. Also...there's 2 patties in between Pedro & Catalina holding Dorado! No one really knows about them yet because the words not out! My friend fishes commercial and just happened to stumble across these patties yesterday!!!

wish i could go on a trip like that, will just have to settle for cabo in october. as for those pink power worms, was fishing at south lake tried crawlers, all kinds of lures then found some power worms i had. tried the white, green then the pink. two poles and had pink on one another color on other. I was killing on the pink with absolutely nothing on the other colors or crawlers. Finally switched both poles to pink and just nailed them. I must have released 30 trout. tried crawlers again right next to my pink one for nil......just one of those days. It would be fun if any member had a boat and wanted to take a bunch of us out, we could all split the costs, or maybe a group can do a moo moo though i don't like them too much.

I will be free every other Friday & Sat starting 9/1 so we can get a 6 pack, charter or freshwater anytime! I would rather go mid-week, but weekends are fine as well. Thanks for the trout info. Where are you located? I'm in Redondo Beach and ready to fish!

I live in Simi Valley but come down your way all the time to fish the harbor with Bruce Watson. I usually don't work on Mondays so thats a possibility. I am just getting my sea legs so want to do the salt...saving the fresh until fall.

Fished Clemente Island area Sat., and got 2 Albies(25lbs+), 5 Yellows(20lbs+), 3 Dorado(10 to 15lbs) and 8 nice Calicos(3 to 7lbs) We found a gold mine of a patty just south of San Clemente Island holding some big Yellows and a bunch of Dorado on dines. It was a wide open bite until our gas gauge stopped working so we had to leave :( trolled back and caught a nice 15lb Dorado! Got to Avalon at 6pm and found a another wide open bite, this time huge Calicos! There's a ton of Yellows and Dorado, problem is that you'll go through 10 to 20 patties before you find them.
