  1. Hi Jared

My name is Brett Smith, I have your book, "Fishin' Trails," and you have helped me before with some great sierra tips.

I am thinking about going up the 395, tomorrow from San Diego after work, May 12th. The first night will be in the Alabama Hills, then hitting the road early Friday. Do you think any of the short hikes in your book will be productive, or is it a little too early in the year?

Do you have any early season suggestions? I like stream fishing, and they don't have to be big. I think most of the streams will be running too fast. I will probably car camp off Rock Creek, but that is not set in stone. Rock Creek (or elsewhere would be my base, and then I can drive up and down the 395). I also can camp elsewhere. I use spinning gear, 2 lb. test, usually spinners, sometimes salmon eggs. Any early season camping and fishing suggestions would be great.

Thanks again for your great book, and all of your help in the past.

    Thanks,

    Brett
