Most that I get on the trap are just cast and retrieve and at a medium fast retrieve. My reel has 7.0:1 ratio so it brings in more line per crank anyway. What I do is cast in all directions though. Most of my hits come in the middle. This is all in slow or no water movement. Lately the water has been moving wide open or close to it. I crank much slower with the 7.0:1 in these conditions when casting across or down flow. When casting up flow, I have to burn it fast coming in with the flow. BTW, I prefer the 3/4 oz variety but have caught them on 1/2oz too. Sorry for the late reply. I just saw this today. I guess you don't get notified of these "conversation" posts. I tried the palmdale duct yesterday for the first time on three diff spot.
I was wondering if you give me an advice how to retrieve the rat L trap. Once you cast them out, do fast u retrieve it or do u let it sink in the bottom and then reel it in? any advice would be appreciated.
