Been wanting to get a boat for a while now, just not sure what to get. I want something fairly economical, something that would allow me to fish most of the coast and the kelp beds in la jolla, basically I would be going where a yak could go...not much further....any recommendations would be appreciated.

You might look for a good used V hull aluminum boat with 25hp motor... Shouldn't be too expensive... Just make sure that you use alot of common sense out there since things can change rapidly. Good luck!

I have a 14ft Deep Hull V Aluminum and I like it, I need a bigger motor but I use a 5.5HP for now and I get all over the place. I will post some photos

i have a 14 foot valco and i like it a lot very econimical i wish i had better range but for the money you can't beat em. i take mine out in the harbors and along the walls and further on good days just watch out for the big boats they seldom care how fast or close they pass you

Check http://www.craigslist.org daily. That's what I did and found my boat for $2,500. It's a 19' cuddy cabin and so far it runs fine. This time of year you should be able to get a boat at a very good price.
