When I was young I used to fish a couple of ponds/small lakes that held a fair quantity of Bass, but I can't recall exactly where.Anyone have an idea?

There's someone here on the board that fishes these ponds...SeaTech is his screen name, I believe. He does well.

The Lower Owens Holds some decent LMB's and SMB's. I've Caught some good ones right below the Tinemaha Reservoir.

You might try Shepards creek or pond (whatever u want to call it) on the east side of hwy395 just north of Lone Pine about 5 miles, just as you hit the alphalfa field on the west side of the hwy there is a dirt road down a little ways on the east side of the road, take it a short distance off of main hwy.

The pond works for trout, never tried it for Bass. :titanic: :titanic: :titanic:

Plus a few others from years past

You can get them all year long

but I'm telling you, float tubing for bass in 35 degree water, with the air temp around 30 degrees is not something I recommend.

There are ponds and canals from south of Coso junction all the way up to Bishop with lots of bass in them. Owens River from Bishop South has lots of bass too. Most spots take a bit of work to find down the miles of dirt roads and a few like Haiwee and Diaz lakes are right next to the 395. Although I think both Haiwee lakes are now closed. We've found 90% of the spots just by driving around and stumbling across them, ponds and canals.

A 6lb bass is monster up there

and the past few years, most fish we've caught have been under 3lbs. Lots of guys have been taking larger fish out of the ponds for dinner and the population is suffering.

It's one of the coolest places to bass fish in the world and many times my boys and I are the only ones out for 3-4 days in a row. It can be tricky to fish with the wind and cold weather in the winter and blistering heat in the summer, but catch a summer evening

with the sun going down behind the mountains and an epic evening glass off top water bite and you'll keep going back for more!
