Currently we are credit/debit only no cash transactions. We do not sell fishing licenses so anglers must acquire them elsewhere prior to their visit. Facial coverings are required when purchasing a fishing permit or when entering or exiting the boats or boat dock area. The lake is offering $20 all day motor boats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military every Saturday.
In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels there is a ban on private watercraft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
The bass bite has improved with mostly smaller males biting close to shore. Largemouth Bass can be caught using swimbaits, crawdads, or dark colored plastics.
Catfish can be caught throughout the lake but are more active near the west buoy line. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver. Stop by the ranger station for a dough-bait recipe that works well on both catfish and carp.
Black Crappie are being caught mostly from boats. Crappie prefer the cover of shade and bite best in the early mornings or late afternoons when the shadows are longer. Trolling for them on overcast days is another winning strategy. Crappie bite best on live golden shiners or mini-jigs.
Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. No mention of the trout fishing in this report. (so I'll add that section myself) Lol

Trout can still be caught if you find the right pocket of water holding them. They like Corn flavored and light Green Garlic natural Power bait dipped in Bite on Garlic. Local trout expert etucker and his friend Racer X caught a double limit of trout this past Tuesday. His 2 biggest trout weighed 7 1/2 pounds each and they also reported seeing another 7 pound trout caught that day trolling.

There I fixed it for them! Lol
