Currently we are credit/debit only no cash transactions. We do not sell fishing licenses so anglers must acquire them elsewhere prior to their visit. Facial coverings are required when purchasing a fishing permit or when entering or exiting the boats or boat dock area. The lake is offering $20 all day motor boats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military every Saturday.
In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels there is a ban on private watercraft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
The trout bite is just average despite Wednesday’s plant. Notable catches included Cameron Senner’s 7.40#, Roy Duncan’s 7.00# & Bob Steinlen 6.60# trout. The most successful baits for trout this season have been mice tails and inflated nightcrawlers.
Largemouth bass can be found lurking around structure. They pursue crawdads, swimbaits, and dark colored plastics.
Crappie are being caught by boaters trolling for them. Crappie respond best to golden shiners or mini jigs.
It was a good week for big catfish with three double digit catfish weighed in the largest belonging to Taylor Oshinki of Valley Center and weighing in at 37.10#s. The big blue was caught & released on cut mackerel in Oakvale Cove on Friday. Catfish can be found throughout the lake and favor cut-mackerel or chicken liver.
Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit.
