Heard a guy say that bait works better in the afternoon? and lures work better in the morning? not sure if it is true or not but i am curious when i should use lures vs bait.

If you have a two rod stamp throw out some bait on one rod and fish with a lure on the other rod.

I often do that. I get a two rod stamp and put bait on one while I cast lures on the other, if I am fishing a lake. If lures are working well, I sometimes put away the bait rod and just use lures. IF not, I usually put bait on both rods. In streams, I often start out with lures (including flies), but switch to bait if lures aren't working.

Roll up some PowerBait and put it on a jig.

That way you're fishing both!

I often put a worm on a jig, but I don't count that as lure fishing. The jig can help serve as weight and with action, though.

What are you fishing for? (catfish, carp*, stripers, etc may be excellent bait targets while largemouth may better lure targets)
What are your goals? (winner winner fish dinner or catch 'n release?)'
Where are you fishing? (blue line trout streams = lures/flies, stocked local parks = bait n'wait for many).
It's not exactly black and white...but while I originally had fun with bait fishing while being introduced to the sport, I've since found it much more enjoyable to use artificials (lures, flys) to fool a fish and release it back again.

Don't forget LIVE bait too for either Salt or Freshwater- Check your regs, and good luck.
