the hike down isnt so bad, but the thing is there are so many rocks and tidepools that the seemingly small surf can be deceiving. It can get rough down there and there are TONs of rocks. most people launch off rat beach from their kayaks and fish the kelp that way. but on a given day i would actually be down to try tubing it. In anycase, the time to go would have to be tide sensitive, where to access depends on the tides. My guess would be to head out in the center of a cove where the surf is predictable and quelled by the kelp. Launching on the sides have large underwater structure that can provide some unpredictable undercurrents.

If you go, bring a hoop net! and let me know when, i may join you
