Has anyone ever heard of a lake stocking Bass and Crappie?
My friend Juan said that lake Elsinore stocked Bass, Crappie, and catfish.
It sounds like a scam to get $20 from us desperate fishermen...
Anyone want to throw in their 2 cents?

Elsinore typically stocks prior to their "Dream Extreme" event (at least in years past), but that was cancelled due to the pandemic. I assume the stocking went in as planned regardless. I don't believe there is a $20 entry fee, it is free to fish as far as I know. You can try William's Bait n Tackle at the lake for info @

Good luck!

Thank you one and all. The $20 fee is for boat launch, there is no public launch, (apparently hasn't been for a few years).

If you guy's are really interested, I'm going there tomorrow and I'll tell you what I see! I'll be fishing Launch point and maybe West Marina for Crappie and Catfish from the shore.

Awesome, thank you! I will possibly go just because I want so badly to get my boat out on the water!

Beware of Launch Pointe from shore, only the two docks maybe open for fishing. The rain has the normal area flooded and it's a tiny sand bar.

Do you think it's safe to drive on the sand? Or park by the launch ramp and walk down?

You are not allowed to drive down there at all, blocked off. Here is a pic of it, you probably will by have to tread thru water. They did plant yesterday, but at this time know one their has any idea what kind of fish. Who works there right now.

Sorry, I can't upload the pic right now, but the sandbar right now is only like 15 feet wide and only half of it is not covered in water length wise.

I was just there 2 weeks ago and wow what a difference! Is this all because of the rain?

Yea the rains, it goes down a lot each day since it's hot. That is what my warning is about, it's a totally different landscape.

Bass and crappie usually aren't stocked. They are put in when a lake opens, and they naturally reproduce.

Agreed 100 percent, but Lake Elsinore plants them to create business, and get rid of carp, which they will never do

Lake Elsinore stocks warm water fish because the lake is too shallow and warm to stock trout. At least that's what the city claims.

This is coming from my first hand experience of fishing the lake in the last 2 weeks a couple of times. I was talking to one of the Lake employees and he said, "they stocked 1,000 4-6 inch Crappies last month. I was there this past Friday to see Launch point under water and noticed some smaller 1 pound or less LMB swimming around. They said on another website they stocked LMB and Catfish this week! They stocked the LMB for sure because I saw them! As for the Catfish, I don't know???? I didn't see anybody catch any! This past week some of the Orange County Lakes and Legg Lake stocked catfish and those things bit pretty good! I should know, I caught my Fair share! Lol
