A little late getting this post but I was up at Convict lake for a few days the week of August 20th. I got my limits pretty quick each day but unfortunately they were all stockers. I did get my first brown out of Convict. Thankfully I didn't have smoke issues.

No I fished from my boat. I was up near the marine rocks most of the time.
