First of all Condolences to families involved...
But what were they thinking ?
Shore seemed to be only 1/2 mile away where cameras were at
Instead of going head on to the wind/waves

I once had similar weather In Laughlin Davis dam and booked it to shore on
Jet ski. People abandoned their ‘day camps’ of canopies, coolers chairs etc just to
Get back to launch ramp safety...

I wouldn’t get on that boat with 2 life jackets. The weather was bad when they left.

I would think that with other accidents happening on these 'boats' that a mandatory airbag system be installed that can be deployed in an emergency like a life raft.
Floats around the entire 'boat' that can be activated to keep it upright and floating until a rescue can be made. You'd be at the mercy of the wind and waves, but would not sink while trapped in an enclosed vehicle where life jackets do absolutely nothing but pin you to the roof.
