Next Plant: 750 lbs. of Channel Catfish Friday June 15th.

Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.

Permits and Boat Rentals are issued at the Ranger Station. We do not however sell fishing licenses, bait, or tackle, so anglers must acquire these essentials elsewhere prior to their visit. All day motor boats are $20 for seniors on Tuesday and Thursdays and for active military every Saturday.
Due to the threat of Quagga mussels, there is a ban on private water craft and equipment. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Catfish are being caught throughout the lake. Willow Cove, Boat Dock Cove, and the near west buoy-line are just some of the hot spots. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver. Stop by the ranger station to pick up a dough-bait recipe that works well for both catfish and carp.
Largemouth Bass can be found lingering around structure. Cliff Dievers of Pauma Valley caught and released a 7.20# bass on a drop shot in Oakvale Cove. The bass are hitting shad raps, frogs, and dark colored plastics.
It has been a lean year for Crappie at the lake The pan-fish are primarily being caught in small numbers by fisherman in boats. Crappie prefer the cover of shade and they are most often caught on finger-jigs or live golden shiners.
Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.

Yea right!!! At $7.00 a day for a permit to fish and $35 for an all day motor boat rental ($20 dollars for all day motor boat rentals for senior's twice a week) Your conspiracy theory just doesn't hold any water.
