Shovelnose ????????

hey ill be fishing with some cousins next weekend and was wonderijng how to catch a shovelnose...
im sick and tired of the macks.... so any info on rigs or bait would be a great help.....

They feed on the bottom generally..

Hook a piece of squid or mack on a circle hook and drop it down.... :D

Then wait....

Catch one of those macks that your sick of catching, then
use the whole thing live on a hook then send them out there!

If you get lucky, you'll get a big one!

Last one I got was small, go it off shrimp

I should put in a post of How Do I Avoid Catching A Shovelnose or Batray :evil:
4/0 cicle hook with sliding sinker. 2ft leader off a swivel with whole frozen squid.
Was catching way to many 2ft/4ft Batrays/Shovelnose sharks with that setup.
I actually went to my 30#/40# setups to get them darn Rays to the boat in a hurry for a quick release. So I could get back to my WSB/Yellowtail/halibut hunt 8)
