Kayaking at Fairmount

This probably has been asked before.. Do you need to purchase a permit to launch a kayak at Fairmount Park? A friend wants to use his new kayak there and he doesn't think he needs a permit for a non-motor kayak. I thought ALL vessels launched there had to buy a boat use permit. Guess he should call the Parks Department and ask. But really, who is going to ask him when he's out on the lake fishing?

Yes you have to get a permit from the city. I forget where you get it. Maybe someone else knows

At the public library @ Orange & Mission. I know that much. Just not sure about the kayak needing a monthly pass..
