Is early July decent in the Sierras for fishing?

Is the first week of July a consideration for fishing in the Sierras (staying at a condo at Mammoth) where we will hike the mountains and wet a line for a few hours as we hit lakes during day hikes? Or is it a lost cause? IN the past, we have visited more in the late August and late October. Never visited early July.

Appreciate any insight. IN the past 12 months and for the next 5 months, early July is probably the only window we will have to go visit the Sierras to fish. If it is not a good time (heat?), would be great to know up front.

Go up there and fish the heck out of it. Creeks should be low enough to fish and the high country lakes are all open. There are a number of lakes to hike to with Cutthroat, Browns and Rainbows with some Brookies thrown in. There is some snow on the north facing slopes but nothing that will bother you. Gonna be warm down in the Owens Valley but wet wading takes care of that. Take a hike to the high country every day and avoid the heat down below.
