Ive been splitting my time between Perris and DVL lately and both lakes are fishing very uniquely given their current conditions... Ill post the DVL conditions on the DVL page but as for Perris...here goes..

The topwater bite and reaction bite in general was coming on strong as of a couple weeks ago. That is until they decided to bring the lake down 3-4 feet... Once they did that the bite took a serious dive and got extremely tough that week... The reaction bite and topwater bite died...
Then after about 4-5 days the bite began to rebound... the worm bite and sub surface reaction bite beagn to pick up again.. The topwater bite hasn't really gotten good again yet.
The sub surface reaction bite and the deep water bite began to get really strong....That was until yesterday when they began to put water back into the lake.. I was at the trench yesterday and the water was coming into the lake BIG TIME... and it lasted for at least 5 hours.... That put a damper on the deep bite at the trench and all over the lake for that matter.. We still caught fish on plastics and reaction baits but the lake just seemed a bit "Off" compared to two days before and the week prior.... I still had good numbers and size but it was just a bit tougher deep mostly..

Ive already heard reports from buddies today that say the bite is already starting to get good.. They didn't look to see if the water was coming in at the trench but they said the bite was pretty good in areas I told them to fish and what to use....

The reaction bite is good and going to get much better in the next couple days as we get into the 90s-100s and stay there for a while...

The reaction baits we've been getting bit on prior to the draw down a couple weeks ago were top water baits, underspins, lipless cranks and Alabama rigs....
Since the drawdown we've been having success on lipless cranks, underspins, and Alabama rigs. And in deep water.. Ice Jigs, tailspins and Flutter spoons.... As well as the trusty dropshot, Carolina rigs and Ikas...

Here are some pics from the last few weeks..

Just before the recent draw down...My friend Professional Supercross racer the #801 Jeff Alessi holding one of several he got on an LV500

Same day my friend Doug got some on an underspin..as well as other baits.

Then Vinny and Mika came out and we smashed them everywhere we fished that day in water 6-35ft.. on plastics, Alabama rigs and topwaters.... At the end of the day Mika said she wanted to hold some for a photo so we saved our last four for the picture before releasing them...

after that my friends Barry and Shani wanted to get in on the action so we went out and smashed them in 6-40 ft of water.. on plastics and reaction baits

Then Tony came out and we smashed them and he got some good ones on plastics shallow.. (DIDNT FISH DEEP THIS DAY)

Then Carlos went out and got them in deep water only...heres his biggest of the day....

Then yesterday I fished again and did well on reaction baits and plastics fished in 15-40ft of water... The deep bite wasn't quite as good yesterday but is already getting better....that deep bite is really fun!!!!
