I'm new at hooping and want to learn more. I have visit San Clemente pier once and got skunked, wasn't really sure if the bait was rite or if it was just a bad day. Does anyone have some adivce where the most lobster are located, what time they hit, what bait to use? If you guys can help apperciate it.

I was at that pier this past saturday well I did caught a shortie but release it, so you can call it skunk. Heard from other hoop netting that it was not so good as well. There was alot of people doing hoop netting there and I think only 2 people caught a total of 3 legas size. If you read the rest of the forum, there answer to your question about when, where and what to used. Basically hoop netting is 98%, 1% hoop net and 1% bait.

Me and my dad were also there saturday. We stayed until 1 in the morning and ended up catching one legal at about 1.5 pounds. We were using a mixture of sarines and macks.
