Captain's Report - We fished Santa Barbara Island on Sunday, March 27, 2016. Started out at the NW corner for a mix of rockfish and ling cod. Water temp 60, W swell 6'. The Ling cod were aggressive today, we landed 4 keepers. We moved to the inside of the island around 10 am and found the yellowtail exactly where they were last week, under the red crab. We caught around 8 with various techniques of trolling, jig and bait fishing. They seemed to have shrunk in size - 8-10 pounds average. Down from the 18-20 pound grade we saw last week. Still a good sign though as it means lots of schools are moving through the area. We'll be going again next week and may return here or one of the other islands. I heard some bluefin tuna were biting down around San Diego and that sounds interesting too. Oh and salmon season opens this Saturday - Morro Bay is not long of a drive. Decisions, decisions.... I didn't get any pictures on this trip but I shot some nice video. Enjoy!
