Tried to fish Belmont Shores on the same day as the marathon. Had a lot of fun driving around trying to get to the sands. Finally hied my way north to the Topaz Jetty area. Tried swimbaits for an hour with no love. Switched to dropshotting for an hour and managed one miniscule halibut. Weather was nice, conditions seemed great. Saw three other fisherman trying to escape the skunk. Two were using plastic and one was using ghost shrimp. Also saw quite a few sliders in the shallows. While I was there, the only other fish caught that morning was another short caught on plastic. Was a nice trench about 20' offshore. Should be holding fish. May try again next week with bait and/or hand grenades. Taut lines. Hope the finny creatures arrive in numbers soon.
