My Bro-in-law paul and I headed out this am from HH. Yesterday was off due to the sheisty weather. We picked up some great pinhead choves, and small sardines to try for whatever was biting. Bait was HARDY! Water was 59-60 outside, and inside HH was 64-65. Water was yucky red color, prolly from the rains.
First, we drifted between the oil isles for nada, then around the oil isle rocks nor nothing more. Then went to the wall and it was pretty slow....Until the mack-attack arrived, and in FULL FORCE! I know I know, its just mack, but hey, on a trout rod and 6lb test, it may as well be an alper!....'sides, I was getting BORED!LOL!
This mack attack was unlike no other, maybe better since I was chumming covies like they were going outta style! They were boiling and hitting whatever I was throwin. So I broke out the historic "Go Getter." My neighbor gave me a few and it was wide open jack-polin 4 macks ! Stupid.
Especially stupid when I stabbed mysel in the finger with the hook while de hooking one of these vibrators, and it was sunk past the barb, sooooo, had to push it thru to crush the barb. But my skin was too tough to punch thru, so had to have paul help out w/pliers! OUCH!
2 minutes later, damn hook stuck right up my thumbs cuticle about 1/2", but hey, no barb, so it came right out! I FINALLY figured out that I was bending the pole while dehooking and this, in turn, launched the hook into my hand. DUH!
Best part of the day was when my lil dine was being chased from below by a crazed mack. Both FLEW into the air several times right in front of me! So cool watching predator vs. prey! My lil guy gotta way! :D But not for long...
Caught a few small calis in the mix, and some strange arrivals...

Wind picked up around 1pm, and we headed in to HH for some hal-E-but fishkin. I have never actually caught one so was REALLY surprised when I felt a nibble, and was like, SWING-AND-A-HIT! Damn surprised at how strong it was and I was all excited having no idea this was my first butt!
Bummer tho-only 20", so CPR.

Then, at the dock, with my boat ON THE TRAILER but still in the H2O, I was dumping the remaining chovies, when outta the corner of my eye, I see a boil. A boil?! at the launch ramp?! WTF?!
Ok, lets find out what it was....Tie on a chove, and throw it out. 1 minute later, Wham! I pull in a 13" butt! 2 in 1 day, suh-weeetttttt
It was a beauty of a day, but the water is cooling, so, bye-bye summer....
