First time hooping for bugs from a kayak
Went out to a breakwall armed with a buddy (Ryan) and 2 nets each. I think this both our first time out. Wanted to really concentrate more on safety and technique. The wind was hell till 8pm, then laid down creating the lake harbor effect

Ryan was successful in grabbing a legal, none for me :(
We still have like 5 months though

Hey how about some safely tip and technique for kayak bug fishing?
I have a kayak and want to go hooping off it.

How was it like pulling up the hoops?
Did it fell like you would flip?

thanks

no it didn't feel like it was gonna tip

Some Safety tips and tips for hoopin off a kayak (this is not a complete and exhaustive list)
1. Go with a buddy, night time is definitely a lot different then day
2. First time only go with a couple of hoops to feel how everything lays out and how your gonna work it
3. Not required by law (other than a flashlight) but a single mounted white light 2 mi range @ 360 deg should be used
4. Illuminate your hoops buoys
5. Promar nets come with 100ft, if your hoopin in 20 ft dont let the other 80 just dangle, tie it up so you have only 5 ft of slack

General tips
1. gloves
2. use a head lamp
3. Wear warm clothing as well as some gear to stay dry
4. Just in case have some extra dry clothing in the car to change should you get wet, warm coffee in a thermos both on the water and in the car to warm you up
5. I don't have one but look into a scotty trapeze (? I think thats what there called)
6. Extra bait

I luv this website.
However its mainly just fishing, or hooping.
Not to bag on it.
Its great for what it is - a fishing website.
However you might want to look in to kayak-fishing websites as well, don't give up this one.
Lots of techniques and ideas are the same
2 sites for the LA and OC areas that I really like are
kayaksportfishing.com
and
baytubers.com
the message board is
baytuber.informe.com

(DISCLAIMER- I have no affliation with the above sites other then being a member just like I am on this site)

Both have hoopin sections to address reports, issues, concerns, techniques, etc with hoopin from a kayak.
