Went out trying to recreate the success i had yesterday fishing the edges of big boilers. Gave it about an hour and headed to my next AO.

The salad was somewhat bad. and i was hanging salad with the swimbait almost every cast. switched to weedless and was still bad. I see some birds working the area and over the next 45 mins it went from 5 birds to 30+.

My first fish was a short calico near some bird activity. I kept getting what i thought to be smelt bites on my swimbait so i decided to give the kroc a go. i would have used the KM but i don't have any atm.

A few casts in i start pulling up smelt like crazy. Then i hook up and the fight is a little different. first croaker of the day comes up! i had no idea what i was about to get into!

Over the next 2 hours it was wide open in between clearing off salad.
The mackerls started to show along with a few more calicos. this was the biggest of the day.

The birds were working the area for quite some time bouncing back and fourth crashing way up close! across about a 200 ft stretch of beach. i worked my way around and saw a few boils and casted into them.

A few more smelt mackrl croaker and even a cuda joins the party.

This was the nicest croaker of the day at 15" a few were this big with the others being 12-14"

Keep working the area and i hit a pack of bones. 2 smaller ones and this was the bigger one. it had some odd design on the middle of the fish.

I scrap a few more macs and small calicos. Then as i am leaving i throw two more casts and get two more nice croakers.

It was an awesome day! I had to go and left them biting. I was not expecting much with the swell and salad condition. another day i had low expectations and come out landed fish. Half way through the day i was still skunked. Nothing gets me going like hooking into a nicer grade fish. Still bummed about that big one i had lost yesterday.

Tally: 30 fish!!
8 croaker
8 smelt
5 calico
5 mackerel
3 bonito
1 cuda

Thanks for reading guys! Can't wait to do it again this weekend. Ive been feeling really blessed with what the ocean has been giving me lately. Hope things really shape out to how they were last year from aug - dec

Peace - Sean

Very nice Kroc slayage Sean. Definitely a good weapon to keep in your gear when all else fails. I noticed you got them from about 2PM on when the tide was filling in nicely. I had a feeling that was gonna be the case today.

Great numbers and variety. Way to switch things up to capitalize on that bite.

Damn....thats a whole lot of fish on the Croc.
Im not going to lie, I've used a Croc as a go-to lure about 5 different occasions in my fishing "career"
I usually stick to the LC 100% of the time, I'm a die hard believer.
But about 1 month ago, I was using a 1oz Croc, chrome with blue pattern (which I use to get some ridiculous distance) when fish are boilin, and I was having a blast casting far and taking about 45 seconds to a minute to retrieve it due to its distance. All of a sudden, I casted hard and my hand slipped from the rod and caused my knuckles to push down the bail and SLAP, my Croc went flying ridiculously far, with absolutely no line attached to it, LOL. Story of my life.

But I'm definitely going to give those 5/8oz crocs a shot more often, thanks for posting.

Bones: Yep that sure was the case! once the tide started to fill in it was hitting off!

iLLest: Yep!!! lost a few lures that way for sure! Too weedy for the LC. the Kroc was definately the ticket!

Thanks everyone!
