Grunion Run

Anybody try the Grunion run yet? Should be going on tonight and next few nights. I would like to find a place to give it a try tomorrow night (10:40pm- 12:40pm). Maybe somewhere between SD and LA. Any suggestions? I think Oceanside is closest to me since I'm in Indio now.

cabrillo, but sometimes they close out the beach/park. long beach along the strand would get you some welcome fish. Just be careful during the run it self as lots of rays/leos beach themselves chasing the grunions.

Do these things make good eats, or good baits?

I didnt know that u needed to have a fishing license to catch grunions that means all those people i saw last time didnt have license

Some people like to fry them and eat them that way, i personally dont eat Grunions but go out because my GF loves the sight of little fish beaching themselves.

yes you do need a license to do any fishing outside of designated zones/areas (Piers/ jetty's/ private piers)/"fish free days"
