Pier Fishing

Hello Everyone,
I plan on bringing a couple of my friends fishing this weekend ,but none of them has fishing license. So I thought it would be best to take them pier fishing. Has anyone had any luck pier fishing lately? I am located near the Santa Monica Pier area. I usually never fish on the pier so I have little experience fishing the pier beside using sabiki rigs. If anyone could suggest a pier that is currently producing fish that would be great. Thanks in advance!

Wife and I were walking the beach and Seal Beach pier yesterday,there was actually quite a few people fishing,we saw mackerel,1short halibut,and a decent croaker,most were using squid bait and wait rigs,even saw a small barracuda chasing a little lure a kid was throwing,I know it's not near you but they seem to be getting bit on this pier.
