Your wrong hooked. He had a higher price and edited the first post to illustrate the lowered price to $80

Memory serves he started at $100.

You owe Ian an apology.

Look at the time of the edit and the time of his price drop.

Ian, I would consider it but I just picked up a Saltist for a hundy

I might be interested. How do the generations for the Daiwa Sealine's go? Is the Sealine X-SHA the current generation and the HV the previous one?

There was the HV coming out with the SHV, then the SHA came later.

Not much difference in the SHV and the SHA but a nicer handle.

The HV is the lower geared version of the SHV. The 40 and 50 sized HV have 4.9:1 gear ratios. The SHV and SHA are 6.1:1 in all sizes.

The Sealine 40hv's are solid reels if well maintained. They went for .something like 125-140 when new a while ago so 80 used with all that 65lb. braid seems pretty fair. Lots of newer, sexier reels out there but the sealine x series are still one of the best casting reels out there imo. I have this exact reel but haven't used it much lately because I have many other reels I like to fish with, but I may put mine back into service since acquiring some Tiburon clamps and swapping out the handle. I did a bunch of handle swapping between my sealines...and put a x-sha handle on this 40 and like it a lot. The older torium and gold Trinidad handles will also fit on this if you have a spare one of those. The nice thing about these reels, besides the casting is the huge drag washers. The stock Teflon impregnated felt washers are very reasonable, but you can also put more expensive carbontex washers in them...and then you'll get more drag pressure and the reel should last forever as sealines are one of the more bulletproof reels out there.
