Just returned from Lassen County for their Opening Weekend, had a great time catching 20-25 trout in half day of fishing.
Stayed at bro-in-laws place in Old Station, always great way to spend time with the in-laws.
Seems many fishermen/women had a hard time catching the planted and native fish but there were some who did really good.
The four of us did quite well catching mostly 2 to 3 lb. rainbows, biggest was a 5.6 lber. And since the more popular places to fish were crowded we fished the least crowded spots
like Baum Lake which is open to fish all year. The advantage we had was that we had 2 electric trolling motor boats and could easily avoid the crowds.
Caught most of the fish on PB, some on lures and some on the fly. We all averaged 20 - 25 fish per half day of fishing, mostly C&R, even after sleeping in and going to breakfast Sat. and Sunday
before hitting the water. We just kept enough of those 2# Eagle Lake strain of rainbows for a BBQ dinner.
Another great 10 hour road trip for quality fishing.
Sorry, no pics.
