This was my first trip to Cuyamaca. I heard stories and seen many photos of monster fish pulled out of Cuyamaca but it did not dissapoint. We started off around 7AM and within a hour my friend pulled out a 12lb trout drop shotting crappie candy(desert baitz) on 2lb test. Then 30 mintues later i walked down lone pine area and landed a bass just shy of 7lb drop shotting for trout on black trout worm on 2lb test. Mid day was pretty slow. Late in the day the trout was on the bite again. I lost a 8lb trout right within 2 feet from the shore I did not have a net with me by the time my friend showed up the line snapped.4610146102

I guess we got lucky with the wind on Sunday. However, those camping over the weekend said it was pretty windy on Saturday.

I think this might turn into my favorite lake as well. I can't wait to head back.

Went back for round 2 (5/31) at Cuyamaca over the weekend. Again I was targeting trout using my ultra light trout gear on 2lb test and landed this 5.2 lb bass(CPR). I got out on my float tube around 6:30 A.M. launching from Lone Pine area and headed for the dam and bam this bass inhaled the crappie candy lure from desert baitz. It was a good way to test out my Phenix elixir as the rod bent 90 degree when the bass headed towards the bottom. After around 10 minute fight he finally came up to net and released.46362
