Went out to the lagoon last night got there around 9 weather was perfect no wind casted my hud got a bite before it can even get to the ground set the hook and a beautiful 6.5 pounder fished the spot a little more and noting started working the bank about 45 min later another strike just a lilltle shy of 5 pounds working the hud fish and game shows up as I get another strike reeling in the fish its fighting me hard it's a monster fish and game tells me I need to put my rod down and show him my fishing license I was like really right now? Can you give me a minute? Snapped my 20 pound braid I was pissed of I show him the license and he says ok thanks better luck next time lol I just wanted to see what that was it was huge I guess you can't win them all after that the bite slowed down went to the fishing pier and there is a group of guys with heavy duty ocean rods fishing for trout it's just funny there is no trout in there and even if there was you weren't going to catch them with those rods. Overall I'm happy the lagoon is picking up and the water level went up a good 10-15 feet it's going to be a good season.

So let me get this straight. DFG made you lose your Hud to show him your license, and your ok with that? Whats he gonna do, grab your rod out of your hands? No comprende.

If his there with you and all his saying is out your rod down now out your rod down now and show me your fishing licesne what are you going to do ignore him and keep fishing I can't get into trouble with law enforcement I don't know about you but I gotta stay under the radar hope you understand now

I would have caught the fish, handed him my phone to take a pic, released it, THEN given him my license. In no way was he being courteous to you by his action.

Agreed, I definitely would have landed the fish before...Either way, congrats on the buckets but remember, its a game of cat and mouse and it sounds like the "little" fish got away this time

lol it did get away can't get them all but I'll be back there for him unless you catch it first

I've had some huge ones break my line at night. It's a heart breaker. That's when I got smart and switched to 65 lb braid in the grass. Ruined quite a few rod guides trying to pull out lunkers in deep grass at night. FnG needs to come around our lake up here. People fishing with no license and harvesting under size bass.
