Looking for advise on which boat on a half day in the morning. What is biting and what to used. I'm a fresh water guy going to salt water for the first time. Any advise would help. :Envious::Big Grin:

Redondo Special runs twice a day if they get enough people (10 I think).
KH has not had live bait for a couple months but should soon they are reporting.
Rockfish season is closed till March 1 so it is bass and sculpin and occasionally some yellowtail lately.
Check there website Redondo Sportfishing.
They have had some great whale watching in RB on the Voyager boat lately.

5 inch Baby Mackerel or smelt color soft plastic swimbaits with 3/4 - 1 oz leadheads. Was killing it on the Sandbass and calicos 3 weeks ago. Of about 30 fish, all were keepers except a couple .... Mostly 2.5 - 6# class fish! Lots of dolphins swimming around, whales breaching off the bow of my little skiff and a 300# bull seal snagged a 4# bonita from my hand while I was looking for my pliers! Of course all activity was outside the harbor! Good Luck and most of all HAVE FUN!

Yeah the rockfishing is closed until march so it is bass. If you toss a swimbait you will get some

Make sure you call the landing a few days before and the the day before to make sure it may go.
If the day you go and they don't get enough people you will have time to go to San Pedro 22nd St and get on the 1/2 day boat there that leaves at 10:00. Call and check first the day before at 22nd St also.

I would recommend the indian out of the same landing. It's the 3/4 day boat for $65. They'll start backup March 1.

He's right, definately call...if you look on their website, the last report was in January when the Indian was running the 1/2 day and then i think they said their boats are out for maintenance until march...
