Silverwood is on the chew guys. Right now is the best trout fishing i've had in a long while. Here's a sample of what my buddy Chris (Trooper Jigs) and I have been experiencing.

Nice!

I'm sure other bodies of water get the same treatment.

Are they all CADFW (aka, CADFG) stocks?

Yes they are. The better question is why? Think I know the answer but I'd love to hear it from the horses mouth, something tells me that's not gonna happen though.

Hey, "put and take like every other lake in SoCal."

They are all raised by CDFW and paid for by DWR as part of their FERC licensing. Have been for as long as I have been around (since 2003). The amount (pounds) has not gone below what it is now since then either.

Kwin the plants are excellent for a fishery that has suffered over the last several years not necessarily due to the amount of trout stocked but the location of those stockings. What was a very good holdover trout population has not been so good, by my observations, the last few years in fact almost non-existent.

I would hope a few plants go in down at the Miller inlet later in the spring, those trout tend to stay down there thru the summer depending on the creek flow and survive the predation from the stripers and largemouth pretty good. The plants going in at Cleghorn also is a huge positive for a more healthy trout population, thank you.

Of course just my observations and no scientific evidence involved.

Darkshadow I'm predicting a killer damsel bite later this spring, bring the skinny stick out and the largemouth and trout should be killing those imitations, so sayeth the Seal.

Curious, any creeks that hold fish up there?

Or are they off limits during certain times of year?

Yes and no they aren't off limits but the flows are not conducive to the fish moving up them this year so far. Both the Mohave and Miller will hold fish and can be fun. I've had some of my best fly fishing days with prince nymphs and other nymph patterns during THAT time of the year, get the hint?
