Yeah I know it might not mean anything to the younger FNN people but some might like it. I have been looking at some of my old photos and found some of the old Irwindale Drags from 1966. I think my favorite of all was the little red wagon, because my dad had a red truck just like it but it was only a six banger and didn't do wheeles.456774567845679

My older brother used to run a Road Runner there. Besides there, I used to go with him to Lions drag strip, OCIR, Riverside and Carlsbad, all gone now...

Morrow was Morrow field in Colton, Ca. It was an airport and the runway was used on Sundays for drag racing until the cars got to fast and the runway wasn't long enough to stop um. After more than a few went into the sand dunes at the end of the runway they stopped racing there.

Here's a list of the old SoCal drag strips:

Ran my VW at OC at the Bug In events a couple times around 1979. Drove it there, raced, drove home, Lol.
I think Brotherhood was 1/8 mile. At Brotherhood they said " Run What You Brung "

Brotherhood was a 1/4 mile after they were open for a few months. They finally had it extended to the full 1/4 mile and I was looking forward to Big Willie putting in a road coarse on the property but the shipping containers were more important... I used to go down that strip alot on my old yamaha in road race gearing for Willow springs... I miss that trac,k 10 bucks, it didnt matter if you were a spectator or a racer. Get there in the early morning and just make run after run down the strip. In the evenings it was about an hour between runs but it was fun.
