So, my 5 year old daughter wanted to go fishing on MLK since the kids had the day off from school. Woke them up this morning, stuffed them with donuts at the donut shop, and headed off to the concrete water hole.
They stocked 400 pounds on Thursday, so hoping between the birds and the poachers I had heard about, I was hoping for at least one fish to satisfy my girls' cravings.
Pulled up to the gate just before they opened at 7:30am and picked a spot close to the parking lot and more importantly for my two girls, the bathrooms. Plus with my current kidney disease, it's difficult for me to walk very far.
45 minutes into our morning adventure, my pole gets a hit. Pulled up a nice weighty 15 incher.
My 11 year old daughter helps me out and wishes out loud, "I wish I would catch something on MY fishing pole."
I remind her that you don't always catch anything. That we are here to enjoy the day and relax.
20 minutes later, her wish comes true and her pole hits. She reels in a decent little 12 incher.
Couple folks nearby got skunked, but my girls were happy. I was even happier that I got to spend the time with them making memories. We then packed up and left.
On a side note, they were cruising around checking licenses and limits.
Special thanks to Mike (HBAR here on FNN) for the heads up on this place.
