Newport Pier Fish Report

I fished Newport Pier in the afternoon on Jan. 8th for 1.5 hours with plastic shad baits & crocodile spoon lures only. Caught nothing.
Saw smelt being caught on small pieces of bait.

Another fisherman told me barracuda come by the pier at 6pm.

Saw several jetties on the north side of the pier, does anyone catch fish there ?

Mostly perch off those little jetties. Might hang a halibut with that Kroc

At least you got out there. Yup, sometimes the fish only want bait.
