I wanted to mix it up a bit and broke out my long rod fishing gear, even though it is pretty crappy in comparison to my light surf gear.
Anyways, I was using 30lb mono line, double dropper loop, a 5/0 or a 6/0 bait keeper hook with a 2 oz torpedo weight. My bait was whole squid and shrimp I bought from the market.
Started fishing from 7:30 am until ~11:30am for nothing.... I was getting bites but nothing stuck. I was not sure what I was doing wrong since my setup was along the lines of what others used. Anyone got some tips for me hehe ?
Before I left I decided to break out my light surf gear and hit the sand. Landed a skunk buster smelt on the kroc. Maybe I should just stick with my light surf gear.
Despite barley beating the skunk it was a gorgeous day at the BU. Crystal clear water (however very cold), slight breeze, loads of bait fish, calm surf, and the warmth of the California sun.
