I have next week off of school and I want to go catch some trout. Most of the lakes where I live aren't being stocked anymore. Anyone have suggestions for good lakes for the stockers? I live in San Dimas and I don't want to drive more than about an hour away...thanks for the help!

Santa Ana River Lakes is about 30 minutes down the 57 from you. If you're looking for city-type lakes, try Cucamonga-Guasti or Glen Helen Regional Parks. Prado is within that hour as well, but it's a lot more finicky place to fish. Good luck!

If your going to Glen Helen put heavy rocks in your pockets as the wind is blowin' 50+ mph at times. Ask me how I know....lol

Sounds good, thanks dday. That's why I'm looking for another lake to fish since Pudd and the rest of the lakes around here aren't stocking anymore. 1000lbs is better than no fish....lol

Yeah, those downcanyon winds get silly sometimes. My office is down on 4th Street and when it blows there, the wind really rocks. GHRP has to be a hard choice in those conditions.

You should recommend him some of the golf courses you fished at , I mean theres no trout but at least the bass is biting.

You can go to the San Gabriel Mountains and fish the streams/creeks that go through. I am not sure whats the water level now but if its still good you might be able to catch brown/brook trout. Check the dfg trout plants on their website I know they are lame but if you go on the day or the day after stocking you should be fine. I caught a few in Huntington central park.

Haha I wish I read this before I went for the first time on New Year's Eve. Went in the AM, temp in the 30s, wind blowing like crazy, no stock... tried anyways.
