Late Post - Not much success

Arrived at NPH at 6:30AM this past Saturday morning, in search of some spotties. We went straight to the bridge but had no luck there.

We started drifting and fishing, I landed 1 spottie, and caught 2 more but they both got off the hook at the last second (right when I was bringing them over the side of the yak, they were both around the same size like 12in.)

To be honest, they weren't biting the big hammers/crank baits like last time, so being optimistic fisherman and still wanting to fish a little more, we scraped some mussels off of a dock and started soaking some bait. I caught this weird looking fish

Thats about it, we left around 12 Noon, stopped at Wingstop to eat and headed home.

Till next time

Nice job on a hard bite Mike. That's a Rock Wrasse or maybe a Wrock Rasse I think. My experience in NPH is that when it's tough, down-sizing the bait sometimes helps. I usually use 4" plastics there unless the bite's really good. I've not had really good results with a BH there, but I know people do. However, when the bite's tough, it's tough no matter what you use.

Thanks John

You called it man, I wasn't catching on the 4" and caught only after I switched to the 3"

I think your right about the name of that weird fish, man that thing had some thick chompers for such a small mouth, I wasn't about to stick my thumb in there lol

Thanks Dan

Using a C-rig I filled my hook with about 3-4 mussels and attached an open mussel on my liter about 2 inches above my hook, and threw it right by a dock.

Happy Holidays

Don

Always a good day when you can access any part of the harbor to fish, almost impossible to be skunked. Tight lines Don

Nice day on my past weekly playground. Glad to see the Spotties are still willing to play! A wrasse has yet to be on the end of my hook there.

Look forward to the next report.
