had a conference to go to in San Diego so decided to make a weekend out of it. Only got to fish a little but a little is better than none. Fished saturday mid morning landed a 5 or 6 perch on the crack.
Got bored so threw on a LC for the hell of it. No wadders on so wasnt counting on getting anything. couple cast later I hook up couple head shakes and I knew what it was. Halibut a little over 20 inches

Well that was a surprise so decided to get geared up and really hit it in the morning. The wife and I got up the next morning. I geared up my wife opted to just fish with out wadding. Started landing perch on the LC nothing big then I look over and Nicol is pulling in a short butt. dont have a picture but it was 17-18 inches. I ended the day with 7 perch and no halibut. guess I geared up for nothing lol. Later that afternoon Nicol went down to the beach and called me and said there are people clamming out here. decided to walk down and see what she was talking about. I saw this lady walking back with a whole bag of the biggest pismo clams Ive ever seen. We were camping at the beach so ran up to the trailer and grabbed our marshmellow roasting sticks and started poking around. Ended up finding 3 in about 15 minutes all about this size.

Threw them on the grill for dinner with a little soy and hot sauce

Wow way to go at beach you've never been to before:Razz: You two have learned well how to get flat guys to take the LC - good job.

I like your pics, too.

Every day I wish I had more time to hit the surf. Glad I can get out every once and a while. And if any of you are down on Coronado at low tide I suggest you bring a pitch fork and get some of those clams. They are delicious

Whoa! WTG! I was fishing over in front of Hotel Coronado on Sunday mid-morning through noon. No such luck - got a couple bigger bites but couldn't get it on the hook. Otherwise, a few dinks. I was fishing right by the jetty and was on the crack. I tried throwing my LC for a bit but never ventured too far from that area. Caught a 27" Hali on crack in that spot a few years ago. Also saw a bunch of people clamming the day I caught that hali and was given tips by a dude with a sack full, to use my heels and dig in - I found one using that technique in about 5-10 minutes! Wish I had gone further down the beach... it's good to know there's still some good action along there along with the clams :)

BTW: it wasn't the NIDA conference that you were down there for, was it? Saw a ton of people around the convention center and all over Gaslamp (we stayed overnight Sat-Sun).

It was a conference for Harris utilities. It was at the Marriott. Guess you should have headed down to silver strand to do some fishing. I really wanted to try fishing the harbor but didn't have time
