Got to Balboa Isl. around 7:30 to meet up with Ifish2little to break in his new yak. He and his friend Rich ended up being late because his friend forgot the he didn't have an SW stamp so I launched first. As I was about to shove off, a nice gentleman told me that I should have been there earlier because it was wide open dandies and butts. Oh well; my usual story LOL. I paddled across to some docks and right away got hits right away. I managed to land my fourth one when IF2L towed his tubing friend over. The bite then died and we spent the next 4 hours scraping an occasional micro sandy off dock pilings. We even towed the tuber to the Marine Street bridge and got nothing. The lack of current was probably the reason. We then fished our way back to our launch site when the bite finally started again. It wasn't wide open, but at least we saw some action. I ended up with 7 spots and one micro sandy. IF2L got about the same and a sculpin. His friend got some spots, sandies and a nice jack smelt and is now hooked on tubing and bay fishing. I was supposed to meet up with Mike_Aye but with a tuber to tow around, it didn't work out. Thanks for the fishing invite Mike. We'll definitely meet up next time. I also seem to not be able to land the big spotties on 6LB line. They seem to chew right through it. I've lost so many big ones I'm getting numb to it. I'll have to move up to 10LB and sacrifice the lower bite count for actually being able to land a nice fish. Sorry for the lack of pics but I can't figure out how to upload them via iPhone. All my fish were caught on T-rigged pumpkin green Reins plastics.
