Before this brief striper report wanted to tip my hat to all the veterans from all the services on the FNN board who served and stood the watch world wide, thank you. Dale and I got out to the lake around 7am welcomed by overcast and on the cool side which is a rarity for Hemet. Water temp from my boat was 65-67f we got into some action on the west side trolling in a depth around 75ft with the downrigger when we got into some action. The 1st couple of fish were in the 2-3 lb range but as the morning wore down we got into a better grade fish. We used scroungers, big hammer swimbaits, flukes, AA's swimbaits and a couple of white home made marabou flies. A couple of green fish liked the flies but their fight was weak compared to stripey. Overall I think the bite is here, most of the fish where hitting in btwn 20-35 feet, we where stacking. Look forward to this winter the DD's will be coming out for din din. Tight lines.

Finally a stripey report at DVL. I don't have a DR, so don't think my trolling rigs will go past 10-15 feet. Gonna head out there and see if they hit that high. Any issues with getting hung up since the water level is so low?

I was out there this past Sunday targeting the green ones, however we did see many striper around the dam area, including one that had to have been well over 10lbs. It was at least as long as my arm. They we're not interested in what we were offering though. Thanks for the report!

Stripey are up. We were fishing a south side cove for LMB early am yesterday when a wolfpack of Stripeys slammed a school of baitfish into a nook. They were just out of reach and by the time we could get close enough they were gone. They're out wolfpacking...

If you can weight that thing enough to get it down to 20-25ft at 2 3/4mph, you can get them if you can find them...

Can't get my U-rig down that deep

I put 1/2oz ledheads on the two bottom and a 3/8oz in the middle on a 5 wire rig, all 3 with staggered leader lengths. Then I put a 1 1/2oz rubber core grip sinker 5-6ft in front of the rig and use 15lb fluoro. I run it out about 100ft and I can get it down to about 23-25ft. The leading weight usually comes off during the fight so I bring a bunch...

Great advice. I'll head out there next week and try it.

Thanks bro. Anybody have a link to the jig head you like to use when trolling? All the ones Ive tried bend after every fight with mr. Stripey.

I can't help ya there as I have never caught a Stripy big enough to bend a hook, schoolies for me is the story of my life.:Crying:

If you need a heavier weight to go deeper try these.

Any issues with getting hung up since the water level is so low?Looking at the forecast with the overcast and low light we were hoping for cooler water temps, last time I fished the water temps where in the mid 70s, like HawgZWylde they coming up. SW area was producing for us. I did hang up going around points at the wrong angle and not paying attention to my FF on the turns, but I recovered my lures w/o losing anything this time to the rock gods.
