Resident Master chef Rogelio hard at work on the BBQ. The dinner menu included the Traditional
Milanesas, chicken skewers, tortilla soup, macaroni salad and for dessert cookies and Valerie's wonderful cupcakes.

Once dinner was over there was a quick meeting to discuss the rules and then off to the rental dock.

The qualifiers loaded their boats, and I mean loaded their boats!
Blankets, cots, seats, sleeping bags, coolers..
You name it and they had it.
It looked like they were all staying for a week of camping!

The coin was tossed.
It was Tails!

The motors roared like thunder and the first wave left the dock.
Then the second waive.
It was chaos on the water.
What a sight to see!!!

Mike Burney came in with the first weigh in at 6:10 am and set the bar at 5 lbs even.

Paul Dalool Jr. came in at 6:28 and reset the bar at 10.10 lbs.

Ricardo Zepeda 7.15 earned him a 2nd place finish. Partner Varian Virgen checked in with a 5.12.

2014 King of the Cats Champion!!!

I just want to say Thanks to you and the "Team Irvine Lake - Daniela Gavaldon, Jimmy Getty, Valerie Lemon, Cijae Smith as well as all of the volunteers that made the 2014 King of Cats another Great Success and definitely another night to remember!" Everything Saturday night from the "Meet and greet" to the awesome spread of food that was offered up to all of the contestants and then the breakfast and award ceremony. Everything was First Class! :Cool:

I look forward every year to that first night of catfishing and every night we all have to fish all throughout the catfishing season, I'm hoping the next season gets here real soon and I look forward to sharing the water again with all of my catfishing friends! :Thumbs Up:

What a great time at the lake, I was looking forward to this one for quite some time and I certainly wasn't disappointed....thank you for all the late night hours and hard work the staff puts in each and every catfish season. You guys set the bar for customer service for all the OC pay lakes and deserve a raise!

Congratulations to all the qualifiers, a special shout out to my partner "Hook'um Dano" aka Danny Pinnel for placing 3rd and doing Team 57 proud as always! (I'll try to get a report up shortly)
