Double A

I had a meeting this afternoon in Bako,
So of course I brought my rods along.
Meeting adjourned... Time to fish.
Hit a few spots in Bako, kind of slow for me and all cookie cutter fish.
I made the decision to pack it in & hit a few spots in the AV.
1st 2 spots were dead.
Skipped a couple of stops bcuz I had a hunch about a certain location, and wanted to get there ASAP.
Arrived, and 1st cast I get slammed.
She took off down flow peeling drag, and I had to do a little light running.
Mind you, I brought out fairly light stuff, not really planning on hitting the AV after sunset.
She put me and my 12# thru the ringer.
I also did not come equipped with my lip gripper.
After finally getting her slightly tamed, and got her to the edge, I tried sliding her... NOPE!!!
Now her head is out if the water and I can see my lure stuck in the top if her head.
She was a headbutter.
She gave one head shake and immediately came unbuttoned.
Now she's laying there, head out if the water, body still in, and my lure laying next to her on the concrete.
Before she could realize her freedom, I lunged at her open mouth, inserted my thumb, and she got the death grip.

She ate a custom painted "tule perch" lipless that Fishing With Dave painted for me...
And what do you know, she had tule perch in her belly.
