What's up ya'll? So I got a chance to take my kiddos out to the Mid this past Friday and im happy to say it was a good day.
it's bin a while since ive taken the kids fishing and figured since they had a week off from school it would be a good time to take them. I asked my 8yr old daughter if she wanted to go and her response was "well the last time we went fishing all day I only caught one!" I told her it would be better this time I promise lol, so she say's ok. Call my son over ask him if he want's to go he was all for it.
So now im feeling the preasure of getting them on some fish especially my daughter since i promised her it would be a better trip this time. I was worried because I havent bin to the Mid at all this yr, so I pmd CutBait for some info and he gave me some good info on where the fish were boiling and and where some good trolling spots are, and pretty much said just go to the lake and you will catch lol. Armed with some good intell I was now feeling confident.
We get to the lake about 7:30 8 as we are paying at the booth the kids are excited and looking at the water to the right of us and tell me the fish are jumping, iglance over and the fish are boiling for a good 30 seconds so now all 3 of us are pumped. Finished paying launch the boat and were off in search of boils. It didnt take long before we found some fish breaking the surface stop the boat cast out pass the rod off to my daughter and tell her reel slow and steady and WHAM!! she's on fish was peeling drag like crazy as she struggles to hang on to the rod lol. After a good battle on 6lb test and light rod we land a nice 2-3 lb striper. Cast out again give the rod to my son and WHAM!! hes on short fight for a dink Striper but he was still happy with it and so was I because they both beat the skunk now. Went out to the main lake around Brazzo and find a couple more boils with no luck. So we decide to troll, wind was starting to pickup and water was getting choppy for my little boat. We end up with 3 more dink striper on the troll kids are happpy im happy and then it happens WHAM!!! we get slammed ons rod straight up DRAG PEELA!! after a 3min battle for my son we land the fish another nice 3-4lb striper by then the wind picked up a little more so we decide to cal it a day. Ended up with5 striper and 2 happy kids. Thanks CutBait for the info we had a blast. Gett out there and getum guys while the fishing is good. Thanks for reading, pics and video com'ing soon.
