Petite Pantry ... I'm sorry I don't remember who gave me the tip ... but a BIG THANKS.

I had Huevos Rancheros ... and loved it! BUT........... the best part are the homemade pies. I had a Chocolate Crème pie that was the best in the whole, wide world.
They have a huge menu ... American and Mexican foods. And, of course, Modelo beer.

Wonderful small homey restaurant. Y'all should give it a try. It's up the road just a piece from the Village Cafe and across the street from the smoked meat place ... as you're heading out of town.

Say high to Idalia (the owner's wife) ... and tell her Bill and Pann sent ya.

NOW ... don't you think we ought to have a "roadstop" section for tips and recommendations on places to eat and sleep?

That's a regular stop for the majority of the people ... great bakery goods ... great sandwiches ... etc. .... but can be crowded

Schaat's Bakkery (no typo)

Yes! Love their bacon, it's definitely a tradition to get that and Schat's cheeze bread on the way up. Expensive, but well worth it!

I was at Schat's on Saturday! Turkey club sandwich was damn good! The Smoked meat place is expensive (2.44oz), but I bought some brisket jerky. I thought is was OK...& I did see the homemade pie place across the street

I picked up the bacon chili cheese bread on the way to Twin lakes to meet a friend for fishing. Sorry to say that by the time I got to the Twins, his portion was mysteriously gone....it's that good!

Paiute Palace Casino on the 395. Its north of the Mahogany Smoked Meats and Bishop Plaza. Small casino with Black Jack, slots, occasionally poker on the weekends and maybe 1 or 2 other table games....gluck!

And yes, they just got their liquor license>>>cheers!!

The people who degrade women and use hoboes in their commercials. Sorry, not my kind of stop. Have you seen their last commercial ... aboard an airplane? I guess their kind of customers can't tell that neither person actually bit into the sandwich ...

Hobos need jobs too. Love me a western bacon burger.

Or you can have breakfast at Jack's (no not the one with the big clown).

Best burger in Bishop is at the bowling alley, ask a local and they will agree.

That was true until Schat's Roadhouse opened. Been there twice now with family and I'm a big fan of everything I've tried. Ridiculously good burgers and killer fries. Schat's cheese rolls for buns? Yup.

When did Schat's Roadhouse open and how did I miss it? What's the address?

It opened over the summer - August I think. It's on main street where the old Sizzler used to be. Across from Taco Bell. Hard to miss it if you're looking for it. Their pulled pork sandwiches are awesome too and Aaron Schat also owned Raymonds Deli (now closed) so he incorporated their awesome deli sandwiches into the menu too. It's pricier than fast food but worth every penny IMO. The burger with blue cheese is amazing and so is the one loaded with pastrami....fine burgers. The burgers are served a la cart. I also tried the garlic Parmesan fries and sweet potato fries and both were awesome...a basket feeds 2 to 3 people.

You guys should definitely stop at the "Country kitchen" in Big pine on the way up to Bishop or Mammoth. They hands down best breakfast burritos etc

I thought Burger Haven was supposed to be the schnitz ... wasn't too disappointed ... but not impressed. I'll try it. For some reason I can't get my social director into the bowling alley ... BA's are where I grew up ... even the shrimp won't entice her. Maybe if I keep trying

Thanks for the tip(s)
