I wasnt going to post round 7 but round 8 was equally woeful, so I will roll them both into one post......Sep 4, started really foggy, so much so it was hard to see until I was almost to old SS....continued on, found the fish again, and 15 minutes later, 3 pound schoolie, skunk gone, problem was that was the only strike and fish for the day...The water level continues to go down, and the water clarity isnt too good, but when I ventured to the ski arm, great clarity, but no fish until the forbidden zone, where they were boiling like crazy, but right as I was in position to throw my KPN mini shad, the lifeguards turned on a siren and put an end to that. Even with the air vent completely exposed, they dont allow you to be inside the 3 new buoys, so they continued to boil furiously as I was escorted out of the area.....I always wish that the lake lice was gone, they were gone, so the lifeguards had to find someone to occupy their time with, and unfortunately it was me! Frustrated on multiple fronts, I called it a day. Today, Sep 11, started out in the ski arm, the further down the line I went the better the bait and fish formations looked..., but no hits, my wife was with me, and I commented that there were so many dang fish I could probably snag one, not more than 30 seconds goes by and I get bit, and it feels funny , kinda heavy, kinda green carpish, but no, it is a foul hooked striper, right in the stomach.....Undeterred, I continued trolling, lots of fish in 40ft of water, 25-30 ft down, so down I go to get to them, and I pick up two more, not huge, but 2-3 #ers. That is how many I ended up with, 3. Now, I know the bite is crazy wide open at Pyramid, and a friend told me of hours long boils yesterday, but heck, I can catch fish when it is WFO, I need to practice catching them when it is tough, kinda like all the years I played scratch golf, it is easy to break 70 on a warm sunny day, do that in the springtime, in the AV, when the wind is blowing 30-40, then you have done something. My golf coaches always challenged me to practice when conditions were tough, it makes you a better player, that still resonates in my brain, except now, 4 years into fishing, I am trying to get better at the trolling game, sure I could dunk bait, and probably catch more fish, but I wouldn't get any better at trolling......Oh yeah, the lake is down another 6 feet from last week, lots of murky water, a few short lived boils, being tended to by a small flotilla of over zealous boil people ......It was tough today, but I avoided the skunk.......Dave

Way to go...

Not many know that you and I competed against each other in the mid 90's.

Both scratch golfers.... now we are striper killers..

Loving it!

Good job getting them on the troll no matter what...that's how you learn how things work...that's really tough, having to leave boiling fish that you're not allowed to catch..you could try bringing along a rod with a heavy spoon that you can cast a mile...you might be able to reach them from the legal side of the buoys..

Great report Dave. Can only imagine the Damage you could do on your own boat.

Thanks Donald, If I had my own boat, the ability to run two rods at once would make it a lot easier to dial in on the right colors and depths.......Dave
