I got the green light from my lovely and understanding wife, to go on a week long fishing vacation with my friends Joe, Jimmy and Alex, down to a friendly and remote little fishing village called Santa Rosalillita, half way down the Baja. I made a trip down there earlier this year in March, so I was really looking forward to going major BENDO!
We caught a bunch of different critters using the Iron, Swim Baits and Live Bait and Gulp.
Yellowtail, Bonito, Calico Bass, Sand Bass, Barracuda, Whitefish, Sheephead, Sargo, Halibut, Corbina, Yellowfin Croaker, Pufferfish, Smelt, Mackerel, Turbot, Buttermouth Perch, Opaleye and Rock Wrasse.
Here I am with a nice Bonita.

One of the many Corbina that ate the metal. We also caught Sand Bass off the beach. The evening surf fishing out in front of the camp was a ton of fun.

Most of all the fish were released, but quite a few of the Yellowtail were given to the people in the village and some where given to the Lobster Fishermen, in exchange for a bucket o’ bugs. Yumyum!!

Here I am with some of the 30 pound Yellowtail that ate the live Smelt and Mackerel that we slow trolled around some of the offshore reefs. Lost count on how many times I got broken off on 30 and 40 pound test line. Those big Jacks are “bad to the bone” when you hook them near that reef in less than 90 feet of water.
