Hit up Castaic this morning on my way back from a duct all nighter. With all the reports of boils I had to get my fix, not really prepared for boil fishing since it was last minute stop I figured I'd fish with what I had. A quick 30min nap parked in front of Gallions and mandatory stop for worlds most amazing sandwiches and friendliest staff and owner (Steve) you could ask for.

Anyways gates opened at 6:30 and fishing by 6:35. With birds working the area and a clear sign of shad everywhere it looked good. I do a quick scout and see everyone throwing (Sammy's) top water but no hook ups and figure to throw a blade bait for distance and depth.. 3" 1.5 oz, if I want it up high I wind fast, but most my time was near the bottom jigging and fast winding like yellowtail jigging. I think I made a few dozen casts with a vary of retrieves and then switched to yoyoing and fast crank.
On the 3 drop on the fast wind after the yoyo I get slammed, and this thing starts taking line to my suprise actually made me tighten my grip and put some pressure on it, mind you I'm set up for the duct fishing a M1 and curado301e spooled with 65# so I didn't expect to find a nicer model or did I expect the nice fight. Finally I get a sight and take my shot with a tuna sling up onto the dock just as the blade bait just about falls off.

With the birds and boils moving it was stay or chase.. Chase it was that included a run-hike and cliff hanging root climbing way to lower levels to prime points with a younger fellow angler and FNNr I forgot your name I'm sorry bud. Which eventually died off and feeling the long day at work and then straight to the duct for an all nighter with min sleep I was done and called it a day at 830am.
